What is a Carbon Dioxide Fire Extinguisher??

The Carbon Dioxide (CO2) Fire Extinguisher will provide you with efficient fire protection by removing the oxygen and reducing the temperature of the fuel surface without leaving any residue, powder or water. They are suited for protection of areas where electrical and flammable liquid fires are expected to occur. It does not leave any residue behind after discharge and therefore is suitable for use in areas where there is risk of electrical fires occurring. The cylinder houses the valve assembly, pressure gauge (non-gauge for most of the CO2 extinguishers because they are self-pressurized since CO2 itself is the pressure source), safety pin, operating lever, discharge horn and the discharge system. These Carbon Dioxide Fire Extinguishers are suited for Class B & C fire protection.

Construction and Design

The design entails the use of a cylinder made of high quality seamless steel that can withstand high pressure caused by liquefied CO2 gas without being pressurized from outside. Operation of the fire extinguisher via lever mechanism allows the user to discharge the contents at any time. The discharge tube and horn shaped nozzle discharges CO2 gas at the base of the fire to extinguish it via displacement of oxygen without leaving any residue. It can be used in a vertical position only and should be operated by using the insulated handle to avoid frostbite during the discharge process. It is easy to install due to its compact nature, making it possible to install in places where sensitive electrical or electronic equipment are kept safe from fires.
